NGAUS will hold its first virtual seminar for retired association members Dec. 4 from 1 to 3 p.m. EST.

The seminar will be on Microsoft Teams, a free, downloadable chat and video-conferencing application. Attendees will not only be able to see and hear the speakers, but also ask questions.

To register, go here.

Retired Army National Guard Brig. Gen. Maureen Weigl, a sought-after expert on retiree and veterans’ benefits, will be the featured speaker.

She will focus on navigating the Medicare application process and how it dovetails with TRICARE, the U.S. military’s health care provider, said retired Brig. Gen. Bobbi Doorenbos of Arkansas, the secretary on the NGAUS board of directors and the association's former retired/separated-Air representative.

Weigl will also cover the PACT Act, the two-year-old law that expands Department of Veterans Affairs health care and other benefits for veterans exposed to burn pits, Agent Orange and other toxic substances.

"We had General Weigl speak at our Retiree Luncheon in August at the 146th General Conference & Exhibition in Detroit," Doorenbos said. "She was very informative, so we thought we would create a platform to share this helpful information with more of our members."

Retired Brig. Gen. Mike Oster of South Dakota, the association's retired/separated-Army representative, will also be a part of the program, which will include updates on the recent NGAUS board meeting and plans for the 147th General Conference & Exhibition next year in Milwaukee.

NGAUS will also announce the association's new retired/separated-Air representative, retired Maj. Gen. April Vogel of Maryland.

"We invite retired members to make themselves lunch and join us," Doorenbos said. "This is our first retiree virtual seminar, but it won’t be the last. We’re looking for our members to suggest topics for future events. We want to keep them connected and informed."

NGAUS has more than 13,000 retired members.

The seminar will be recorded and posted on the NGAUS website for those unable to attend Dec. 4.
