Maj. Gen. (Dr.) George A. Alexander (Ret.)
Retired Maj. Gen. (Dr.) George A. Alexander retired from the military in 2005 after 26 years in uniform. His final assignment was as deputy surgeon general for the Army National Guard in the Office of the U.S. Army Surgeon General. He was the principal advisor to the Army Surgeon General on all Guard-related health and medical matters. His civilian work includes time as senior medical advisor in the Office of Preparedness and Emergency Operations at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and as director for medical and public health security in the Office of Homeland Security at The White House.
