Background
NGAUS strongly supports S. 2307 & H.R. 3392, the Fighter Force Preservation and Recapitalization Act of 2023. This legislation would maintain the existing 25 ANG fighter squadrons with a minimum of 18 primary aircraft each. Additionally, it would require the Secretary of the Air Force to develop a fighter recapitalization plan that would replace and modernize ANG aircraft at a rate of 1:1 by the end of FY 2034, and field the Next Generation Air Dominance family of systems in the ANG.
H.R. 3392 was introduced by Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE), Rep. John James (R-MI), Rep. Jason Crow (D-CO), Rep. Dutch Ruppersberger (D-MD), Rep. Doug Lamborn (R-CO), and Rep. Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) on May 17, 2023. The Senate bill, S. 2307, was introduced by Sen. Mike Crapo (R-ID), Sen. John Hickenlooper (D-CO), Sen. James Risch (R-ID), and Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) on July 13, 2023.
