Priority
Army National Guard
Issue
The Nation relies heavily on the ARNG's HMMWV fleet to respond to the homeland and be ready to deploy. These missions are accomplished with a fleet that averages 25 years old - beyond the expected useful life of the vehicle.
Despite the average age, the HMMWV remains a key mission enabler and modernizing the fleet has been a top priority of the ARNG and the NGAUS Sustainment Task Force.
Recommendation
The National Guard Association of the United States (NGAUS) strongly urges Congress:
- Appropriate $200 million for the Army National Guard HMMWV Modernization Program in FY2027.
