William Rohrs has joined NGAUS as staff writer in the communications department. He will write stories for NATIONAL GUARD, the award-winning NGAUS membership publication, and contribute to other association communications products.

A native of California, he most recently wrote for NorthBay biz magazine, a business-to-business magazine in Santa Rosa, California. He has also worked for newspapers in Santa Rosa, Petaluma and Sonoma in California.

“Washington, D.C., is a crucible for hungry journalists, and I’m honored to accept a position at NGAUS, where journalism and advocacy intersect,” Rohrs said. “I’ll do my best to uphold the high standards of accountability and integrity at NGAUS.”

Rohrs has done volunteer work for AmeriCorps and the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Santa Rosa.

After he was accepted the position, he made a cross-country trek by car from the Golden State to reach the nation’s capital.

“Watching an entire country go by through a car window helps me realize just how little of the United States I’ve actually seen,” he said. “It’s an enormous country, with a great diversity of people making a living however they can.”
